Islandora is an open-source software framework designed to help institutions and organizations and their audiences collaboratively manage, and discover digital assets using a best-practices framework.  Islandora was originally developed by the University of Prince Edward Island's Robertson Library, but is now implemented and contributed to by an ever-growing international community.

We have been a little stealthy about it, but Islandora.ca just got a makeover. We have made the move to Drupal 7 and switched to the niftiness that is the Apollo responsive theme (based on Aether. We're also making the move to a more active, social Islandora.

Islandora Camp Europe Updates

The main presenters and instructors have been confirmed for Islandora Camp in Tuscany, Italy:

  • Mark Leggott - Islandora Founder
  • Donald Moses - Digital Initiatives and Systems Librarian, UPEI
  • Paul Pound - Islandora Developer/Senior Developer, UPEI
  • Thornton Staples - Director of Research and Scientific Data Management, The Smithsonian
  • Nigel Banks - DiscoveryGarden, Inc.

Additional speakers will be announced in the coming months as we gather ideas from the community. We would also like to encourage members of the Islandora community to propose sessions for the 1st Islandora Camp Europe. We are also asking the community to suggest sessions for the camp. Sessions will be put to a vote by attendees later on to decide what will be added to the schedule.
