Islandora is an open-source software framework designed to help institutions and organizations and their audiences collaboratively manage, and discover digital assets using a best-practices framework. It uses Drupal as a front-end and deploys other open-source technologies, such as Fedora and Solr, to deliver a complete digital assets management solution. Originally developed by the University of Prince Edward Island's Robertson Library, Islandora is now implemented and supported by an ever-growing international community.

Islandora Receives Major Grant Funding

Islandora was the recipient of major research funds this month, coming from 2 funded projects under ACOA's AIF (Atlantic Innovation Fund) initiative. DiscoverySpace, led by Mark Leggott, is a 3-year, $2.5 million project to build on Islandora's unique approach to research collaboration and data stewardship with the Virtual Research Environment (VRE) framework.
